WE’RE DEBT FREEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The goal was to pay off the car by the end of this year, and I had even resigned myself to paying it off by mid next year, but thanks to a focused debt repayment plan, we are FREE of our consumer debt. If you follow Dave Ramsey’s Baby Steps, then we just completed Baby Step # 2. If you follow the baby steps, then accomplishing steps 1 -3 are the most important in the process toward financial freedom. See my previous post from July 2023, and you’ll see that this journey has been a 5 year journey. Including the car, which I had to purchase in 2020 we have paid off $102,382.42. Now all that remains is to pay off the house. I still am an advocate for using Dave Ramsey’s Baby Steps so if you are a follower of that path then you know you would want to have 3 months of emergency expenses, contribute 15% of your income to retirement, save for your children’s college fund and pay off the mortgage. We have completed Step # 3, so we can focus on 4, 5, and 6. Going into December, I’m working on my first loan, and for me it feels like coming full circle from where I started 16 years ago. I never imagined going back down this road again, and it feels fulfilling and scary at the same time. It is going to take hard work, luck, and a miracle to be successful, but I know that my wife supports me. In a decade, I want to have enough income to comfortably retire. Over the years, I’ve tried many different schemes to accomplish this goal, but I am comfortable in going a slower, more steady way. I’m going to look for opportunities, but the most crucial step is to include and be mindful of my family. Does your debt free plan include others?
