She’s here. She’s finally here… Our first child. The first grandchild on both sides of our family. Evie James, you are our first born and so precious to us. Jill is doing fine, and the delivery went well. With the Pandemic, I was the only person allowed to be with Jill, and I prefer that it was just us. It was our private moment together. The year 2020 isn’t over with yet, but I know it’s a turning point, and a year of great transformation not just in my life but the world itself.
People’s businesses, jobs, and lives have been disrupted in a way that I haven’t seen in my lifetime. The only event that seemed similar to me was 9/11, because I remember where I was and what I was doing and how much it stayed with me in the weeks and months that followed. Another event that I can remember was the financial crisis and when the housing bubble burst. With this Pandemic, I feel that it really shined a bright light on two areas: mental health and personal finances. If your business and or job was eliminated and you had debt, then you were left feeling the burden of owing someone else. Not being able to socially interact in the way we are accustomed to and the level of fear is unlike anything I’ve seen. Even for people of faith, it’s a test of faith and I feel for the churches that didn’t have the ability to provide their services online. It is important to protect your mental and emotional health and stay in community with others.
Even with this wonderful moment in our lives happening, we were able to pay off Jill’s credit card, and this month we are CREDIT CARD DEBT FREE. We’re still focused and not finished on the end and having this balance off us will be beneficial overall. I dream and envision a time when Evie will not have to grow up with a family that has credit card debt, and when she graduates high school, parents that don’t have mortgage debt. One of the greatest gifts that I can give her is break the generational curse of financial debt from her life. What is your why for being debt free?

“The LORD will send rain at the proper time from his rich treasury in the heavens and will bless all the work you do. You will lend to many nations, but you will never need to borrow from them.”
