Pursuit of Excellence

I am going back into therapy. My ego is my own enemy. It is made up of my thoughts and those thoughts are formed by my environment both my parents and the world around me. My automatic responses to situations and default settings are not normal healthy reactions. It is time to go back in and dig deeper. This time I sought a Christian licensed therapist, and like last time in my first session I opened up about everything. For myself I want to give no opportunity to hide. There are still portions of myself that I know are immature. Marriage is hard work, but it is also harder for the one that must grow up the most. Iron sharpens iron and for me there are areas in my mind and emotions that need to be sharpened so I can be the best version of myself for my family. I want to be a better version of me. It is the choices you make that define the type of life you could have. Yes, it is hard work and yes, it is never enough, but that is the cost of marriage and it’s a reality. Adapt and overcome. As I lay in bed on 7/15, I thought my marriage was over. I imagined it as my last night with Jill and Evie. I imagined Evie walking down the aisle with two dads instead of just me. I imagined a life with Jill as a single parent. All these possibilities as a direct result of a preventable mistake. I do not want to lie to myself any more about my own ego, and I want a better life. I choose Jill, I choose Evie, I choose Family.

This month, the car loan was reduced, and I am going to make the minimum payments going forward because we need every penny for life, because we are about to enter a global recession. Even if I were to make the minimum payments of $238.39 starting now, the car loan should be paid off prior to the maturity date of May 7, 2027. I want to make sure we have enough in savings, enough for life, and enough for Evie.
