At the end of August, therapy is going well for me. Talking with Jill, we have come into agreement that I am going to slow down on paying down the final installment loan. Taking care of myself and my family is more important than paying off this final debt. It is especially important to remember in your debt free journey, that the purpose is to live life. Yes, I got myself into debt, but I cannot become so focused in getting out of it that becomes a detriment to living life especially at the cost of your family if you have familial obligations. Marriage and personal finances are a hard work, but they’re a good work. Ask yourself: who are you doing it for? Are you doing it for your self? Are you doing it for your spouse? Are you doing it for your children? Are you doing it for your legacy? While not focusing on debt, it has opened us up to spend without apology, and it has relieved the amount of pressure I was putting on myself. Therapy is helping me dig out a lot of my personal issues even more this time than last time. Because I am not accelerating down on debt, we have the cash flow to pay for these necessary things for the health of my life and our family. Ask yourself what is more important than debt free?
